1-2-3 Sundays: Simplicity, Readwise & Line of Duty

Enjoyment In Simplicity

If there's one aspect of winter I love the most it's the sunny and frosty days.

I never take for granted the feeling of the sun on your skin and the contrast of the crunch of frost through your feet.

Last week, I spoke about enjoying the simple pleasures in life; this is definitely one for me.

It's not only here the simplicity has had an impact on me but also trail running through the hills when there's no one else there. Being disconnected while surrounded by nature resets my mind for what's awaiting me.

Reflecting and journaling on these moments afterwards keeps the feelings fresh in your mind and allows you to see what brings your joy.

2 Positive Outcomes

Getting Out Of The Comfort Zone

I find speaking on camera weird and unnatural. I get nervous and forget to talk clearly or make a mistake in what I'm saying.

One of my goals for this year is to become better at speaking on camera. I took the first steps this week by recording a video of myself for an upcoming project.

My mindset towards speaking on camera is similar to what my previous running belief was - "I'm not someone who speaks on camera".

The quicker I drop this limiting belief the easier it'll become and the more I'll progress.

Energy & Mood

What a difference sunshine makes to your mood.

Frosty mornings and fresh coffee are where it's at.

3 Things I've Learned

Readwise

This is how I capture every book note & article highlight.

I've got my Kindle account & Medium account synced up so any highlights I have sent to one place.

This is way easier than trying to search two different databases.

The daily email from Readwise lets you review highlights and tag them - making it super easy to find worthwhile quotes.

Being Busy & Time Management

The more I see people who are always busy the more I began to think if they are always this busy or have poor time management skills.

I believe this is partially due to one of the most underdeveloped skills: how to prioritise and plan. It's easy to get drawn to the simple tasks that aren't going to progress projects but seem like a way of being productive.

Using a tool like an Eisenhower Matrix will show you what requires your attention the most. This then lets your plan and schedule.

I've witnessed super organised professionals lack organisation away from work.

The reality is if you want to be operating at your best across your life, the same level of time management and planning is needed in each aspect of your life.

Line Of Duty

What a show.

Great plot and characters.

The ending wasn't exactly the payoff everyone was waiting/hoping for.

9/10 - would recommend.
