1-2-3 Sundays: Refreshed, Self-Talk & Inspirational Leaders
1 Theme
Refreshed
The time off served me well.
I felt revitalised this week across a lot of areas:
- Work - productivity levels up.
- Training - not just going to tick the box but going with serious intent.
- Life - developing relationships and planning out the first RFA live event.
Taking the time to relax and disconnect is important.
Self-care shouldn't be one of those things that happens infrequently or only when it's not going great. Actually scheduling it in regularly will have massive benefits and a high ROI.
2 Positive Outcomes
Asking Questions
I've been making an effort on journaling this week.
Not just writing down what's been going on but asking questions that seriously make me think with the goal being to unlock thoughts deep within the mind.
My overall mood and mindset has improved as result. Productivity has also increased this week compared to previous weeks.
Journaling is one of these energy-generating tasks that gets me ready to work each day.
It's a simple process and anyone can do it. From this template I created, choose three each day to answer.
Self-Talk
This is a direct outcome of the previous one.
The way we talk to ourselves is reflected in our daily actions.
The way in which you speak to yourself has a massive impact on results, relationships and goals you may have.
If you can't show yourself compassion then how can you show it to others?
This is something I've struggled with in the past. Being so hard on myself that it's affected those around me.
Your inner monologue is created by conscious thoughts and inbuilt beliefs. If either or both is out of alignment with who you want to be then it can create a negative feedback loop.
My own self-talk is in a good place. As a natural optimist, I can identify where negative self-talk traps are and avoid them.
When you demand more from yourself, challenging your (limiting) beliefs is starting point.
3 Things I've Learned
Your Life As A Silent Movie
Imagine your life is an old, black and white silent movie.
You're unable to speak directly to the audience (the people in your life). The only way you can communicate is through your physical actions.
Would they be able to tell what your priorities, goals and ambitions are?
Public Speaking
I delivered my second training inside Ready For Anything this week.
Since the first one a few weeks back, my public speaking has improved. I feel less nervous and more confident in my abilities when delivering.
Public speaking is like any other skill - you NEED to practice it.
I'm buzzing to speak next week at the first RFA live event - Max Potential Day.
Inspirational Leaders
Fear is powerful motivator.
It's what drove me to complete the Edinburgh marathon in under 4 hours - I feared not doing so after committing to it.
It's not a long term strategy though.
Fear motivation is the internal process of moving yourself away from what you don’t want.
The issue is that fear motivation is associated with failure. And that this failure has negative connotations.
The leaders we look up who inspire us use the opposite tactic. They normalise and acknowledge fears, seeing them as part of the process towards a persons growth. We feel like they understand us.
They also recognise previous accomplishments to remind you of what you're capable of. You didn't know it all before you achieved them so a little bit of the unknown is okay.
What kind of leader are you?
