A Special 1st Birthday🎂

1 Theme

One Year

Today is the 1st birthday of 1-2-3 Sundays🎂

This time last year I committed to posting every Sunday because I felt I hadn't been turning up where I was meant to.

I decided the best way to do so was to set a time every week to hit publish and be accountable.

Reflecting back, it's kept me coming back with different ideas each week.

When I look at who I was a year ago, I had just started my marathon training, only beginning to see what the human body and mind are capable of.

A thought experiment is to map out the perfect year from today to Match 2024.

  • What values will you have?
  • Where will you be?
  • Job role.
  • What do you want to achieve in that timeframe?

Most people underestimate what's possible in the space of a year.

2 Positive Outcomes

Max Potential Day

This was a success all around.

Getting to connect with everyone in the community and deliver value was the aim for the day.

Admittedly, I was nervous before getting up to talk but once I got into it I loved it.

For me, that was outside my comfort zone.

Pushing myself that little bit further each time grows where you feel comfortable. The barriers you previously had in place begin to disappear.

Adapting & Overcoming

Some pretty wild weather earlier in the week meant running on the treadmill.

It was a slog.

The monotony of seeing the same walls was tough on the mind but build up resiliency to not stop.

It's tempting to hit the big red button but just taking it 1km at a time made it manageable.

3 Things I've Learned

Stay Consistent

Turn up when you don't want to.

Be dedicated to your why.

Look within to figure out what's driving you.

And just do the thing.

Everyone Has Limiting Beliefs

We all have that wee story we tell ourselves to keep us comfortable.

There's no exceptions to the rule.

For me, I used to say "I wasn't a runner". I only said this because I wasn't good at it and hadn't learned how to pace myself and actually give myself a change of enjoying it.

Where are you holding yourself back by a limiting belief?

The Best Pizza

Paesano in Glasgow takes 1st place for the best pizza.

Unreal.
