I'm Not Immune To Feeling This Way
Last weekend was pretty heavy.
It was probably my biggest weekend of drinking this year - Saturday in particular.
On Sunday, I had a hangover. Which I was fully aware was going to happen. I was tired, drained of energy and wanted to laze about.
After a proper night's sleep on Sunday night, I felt better on Monday however I noticed my gym session that morning wasn't quite what I wanted it to be.
Throughout the day, I felt myself getting annoyed at small things and being frustrated at others.
I then had a realisation.
If I'm feeling like this after one weekend what must it be like for those who do it every weekend?
This is one of the reasons why I don't drink a lot. Because I know how much it affects me mentally and how it negatively impacts my energy.
When I went without drinking for a year, or even when I go sustained periods of no alcohol, I gain a clarity within my mind that allows me to operate at my true best.

The Countdown Is Back On
It's now 12 weeks until Hyrox Glasgow.
This time I'll be doing doubles which I am buzzing for.
I have some serious ambitions for this one which me and Kieran have set out.
After a pretty tough test week, I know exactly how fast I need to be running in training and what standard I need to be at.
Let's gooo🚀
I'm Now A Podcast Host
The first episode of the Ready For Anything Client Corner was recorded this weekend.
In this series, we sit down with a client and allow them to tell their story and journey working with RFA.
This was one of the funniest experiences I've had. Hosting a podcast is an idea I've had for a long time.
You can watch it on YouTube or listen on Spotify.
3 Learnings
This Is A Superpower
We're now full swing into the Christmas night out season.
Over the last 8 days, I've had 3 nights out.
While I've not drunk at them all, my sleep has still been disturbed.
Because I train in the morning, I could easily miss the session for that day. But I didn't want to do that.
After being out late (half 10 is late me lol) on Wednesday, I woke up on Thursday pretty tired. Instead of missing my planned run altogether, I moved it to lunchtime.
Up until that point in the day, I was tired. The onset of a cold didn't help either.
I needed to that run.
Not to tick it off and say I've done it.
But for a state change.
I recognised my emotional state and then achieved a state change.
My energy for the rest of the day felt restored.
The main takeaway is when you're not feeling in the emotional state you want. Taking action helps you move to a place where you'd rather be.
The same goes for when I was hungover last weekend. I didn't sit about all day - I went for a run with Kieran who's doing a 10km every day for 35 days. The snow couldn't stop us either.
You Are Morally Obligated To Do Remarkable Things
I've been listening to the 3 and a half episode of Modern Wisdom with Dr Jordan Peterson this week.
Admittedly, I'm not his biggest fan however I've enjoyed him in this one.
This stuck with me:
Because life is so difficult and challenging that unless you give it everything you have, the chances are very high that it will embitter you...the fact that life is short and can be brutal, can terrify you into hiding and avoiding. You can flip that on its head and understand that since you're all in anyways, you might as well take the risks that are adventurous.
Do you want to become bitter and have negative contributions? Or, take the risk and go for it?
If You Have To Choose, Be The One Who Does Things
Another takeaway was one of the rules that Dr Peterson didn't use in either of his rules for life books.
You have a choice.
Be passive or active.
