I enjoy being active - weight lifting, hiking and cycling to name a few of the activities I appreciate. Why? The rush of endorphins is what drives me. The feeling of pushing and challenging yourself for the reward at the end.

The desire for challenge followed me into my studies and the career path I've taken. My work involves the manufacturing of semiconductors - the building blocks of all electronic parts. Although I had very limited knowledge prior to starting, I get the opportunity to learn more and more about device physics every day.

I've always enjoyed reading. When I was young (maybe 10 or 11), I would take 2 or 3 books on holiday with me because I was so immersed in the stories I couldn't put the book down. Don't be fooled these were not picture books but novels. I kept up the habit until my mid-teens when I discovered the Xbox and read less and less. It wasn't until 2019 when I began to get back into reading and realised that it's my preferred medium of fiction entertainment. The following year (during a global pandemic) I read books from a wide range of genres that I never thought I would. It opened my mind to the endless ideas, themes and characters out there.

As I mentioned above, I love a challenge. I view them as opportunities to learn or to grow. Being a problem solver is what attracted me to engineering and working in an environment that is intellectually stimulating and keeps me coming back for more.

Travelling with my girlfriend is something I'm excited for when the world opens back up. We've visited some amazing places such as London, Prague and Berlin. In the meantime, we've enjoyed exploring Scotland even if the weather hasn't been great.

Oh, I also really, really like black coffee.

Who am I?
